simply inu

The origin

Inu (犬) simply means dog in Japanese.

It's one of the oldest, most basic words in the language.

Somehow, it ended up everywhere

Shiba Inu. Akita Inu. Inuyasha. Super Inu. Artificial Inu. Dog coins. Memecoins.

At some point, inu stopped feeling like a Japanese word and became something of its own.

Especially online, it's everywhere. Entire coins, communities and characters have been built around it. People recognize the word instantly, even if most have never stopped to ask what it actually means.

But nobody really talks about where it came from

One of the most recognizable words on the internet is also one of the simplest.

And after everything inu has become, the original word barely gets any credit.

Maybe it's time it did.

犬 inu.
